Prayers For Pastors and Congregations–Fourth Weekend of March 2018

A Prayer for Pastors: O Lord, the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem includes adoration for Him by the crowd. Some are beginning to understand who He truly is. Some mistakenly think He is the military leader or government king for whom they longed who would free the Jewish people. We know He is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. May we proclaimers this weekend be able to communicate the truth word effectively on this Palm Sunday that the winners of March Madness are all people who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen!

A Prayer for Congregations:  Oh Lord, it is in many ways a confusing weekend. For some it is spring break from school with the beginning of a late March Holy Week. It is March Madness for both men’s and women’s basketball teams. It is the march for gun control that impacts us whether or not that is a cause we take up. Amid this confusion, the most important march is the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem to face the culmination of His earthly mission. May this triumphant march be our spiritual focus that overshadows all other marches. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
