Insight 045: FaithSoaring Churches Change the Way They Count Membership

Membership is less important than it once was. The number of people connected with a congregation through various types of involvements is more important than how many people are connected.

FaithSoaring Churches count at least four types of involvement. First, is regularity of attendance in weekly worship. Second, is involvement in some type of ongoing small group or even a traditional Sunday School class. Third, is the number of people each member can count as deep friends within the congregation with six being a minimum. Fourth, is how many people have an identified leadership position or role in the programs, ministries, or missional activities of the congregation.
