Money is Only One Aspect of Our Personal Worth

“It is interesting that the phrase ‘personal worth’ can mean both the extent of our financial assets and our value as a human being.” (Nouwen, p. 29)

Fundraising and our personal worth as both a donor and a fundraiser are integrally tied to one another. Everyone is a person of worth created in the image of God to live and to love. The giving of a donation is never just a transaction. It is also at its best a giving of one’s personal worth that involves one’s full heart, soul, mind and strength. May fundraisers always treat donors with a high value for their person worth, and not as a transaction.
