CMBA Congregations are Engaging in Acts of Compassion on September 22nd and 29th
On Saturday September 22nd or 29th, ten CMBA churches are participating in simultaneous acts of compassion in their communities. Nine are directly part of the Inasmuch Days on the 22nd and 29th. A tenth is engaging in their annual large scale compassion ministry day. All of this is being done in the spiritual of Matthew 25:35-40. The idea of Inasmuch Days is inspired by the ministry of OperationInsmuch.org headquartered in Knoxville, TN.
Activities include prayer-walking, music performances for special target groups, feeding homeless people, packing meals for use through various hunger ministries, delivering cookies to firehouses and police stations, children parties, painting buildings, paying for families to do their laundry, visiting nursing homes, and other similar activities.
Churches involved in the Inasmuch Days are Concord Fellowship (Andre Rogers, pastor), Grace Fellowship (Reginald Byrden, pastor), Harmony (Dan Griffin, pastor), Rosewood (Bob Morgan, pastor), Sawney’s Creek (Dean Reynolds, pastor), Spring Valley (Robert Winburn, pastor), St. Mark (Michael McCoy, pastor), Woodfield Park (Jeff Phillips, pastor), and North Columbia (Lindsey Lyerly, pastor). Shandon (George Wright, pastor) is conducting on the 22nd a Love Cola day. Check out their information HERE.
Certainly on these two days many other CMBA congregations are engaging in acts of compassion not reported here. We praise God for the ministry of all of our churches and would love to tell their stories so all might celebrate with them.
These Inasmuch Days are a pilot to test if CMBA churches are interested in having a big, simultaneous compassion ministry impact on the CMBA area so our area will know we are Christian by our acts of love and kindness. If your church did not sign up, or even hear about this emphasis, but would like to participate in the future, contact Cathy Locklear at CathyLocklear@ColumbiaMetro.org or by calling 803.622.0303.
