Captured By Vision Insight 032 By George Bullard

Potential leaders who cannot articulate their passion for the congregation’s vision need to remain “potential leaders.”

The functioning of lay leaders regarding vision needs to focus around their passion for fulfilling vision. If current and potential lay leaders do not feel passion for the vision and for fulfilling it, their actions and attitudes will not inspire anyone else to see and follow.

Too many lay leaders have their own agenda. Once they are in a leadership position, they seek to push their vision rather than to be part of God’s empowering vision. No matter how competent these potential leaders are, how powerful they are, and even how much money they give, their presence in crucial leadership positions can derail God’s empowering vision for the congregation.

Other potential leaders have no understanding of vision or of the need to move their congregations beyond ministry as usual. They don’t need to be super persons, faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. They do need to aspire to a desire for their congregation to be a super church.
