Insight 086: FaithSoaring Churches are Willing to RightSize Staff

Many congregations who need to transform were once larger. Perhaps much larger. They may be seeking to sustain a number of staff and an overall personnel budget that is unjustified for the current size of their congregation and the present budget level. This may be weighing them down and making it difficult for them to empower transformation.

It can be a tough decision–particularly because of personal relationships with staff persons–but downsizing staff may be a key early step in diminishing the controlling aspects of management and freeing resources. Courage and a healthy transparent process is essential for successful RightSizing.
