Insight 156: FaithSoaring Churches Make Great Use of an Interim Period

Congregations desiring to transform do not use the interim period between pastors as a rest period. They use it as a proactive period to rethink and renew the focus, direction, and pace of transition and change leading to transformation. Some will seek not just an interim pastor, but one trained to intentionally help congregations refocus their ministry during the interim.

The interim period can be a great time to assess and increase the capacity of lay leadership as volunteers engage more deeply in the life and ministry of the congregation. They get ready for the next stage of forward progress.
