Congregations seeking to transform never say, “We tried that, and it did not work.” They can look objectively at themselves or invite a third party to do so. Their assessment is intended to help them understand the various things that may have been going on and look at a similar approach as a new opportunity.
At times a clear vision was not present, or the finances needed did not materialize, or the person leading did not have the capacities needed for it to succeed, or the timing was wrong, or ownership was not sufficiently built within the congregation.
