Insight 250: FaithSoaring Churches Avoid Space Misuse Syndrome

Congregations seeking to transform can avoid Space Misuse Syndrome or SMS. This is when the usable space [in some situations even though it is too much space] is misused or misallocated, too much of the space is reserved for a single use, the configuration of the space is less than ideal, and at least one of Murphy’s Laws applies. This is the law that junk, clutter, storage expands to fill the available space.

These facilities are unappealing to new guests–particularly guests with children. The congregation is complacent and not proud of itself and what it has to offer.
