Insight 311: FaithSoaring Churches Place Their Denomination Below Their God-First Faithfulness

Congregations seeking to transform know it is appropriate to be faithful to their denominational heritage. They can be proud of being Baptist, Church of God, Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Quaker, etc. But, there is a limit.

If being faithful to their denomination ever gets in the way of placing God’s vision for their congregation first, then they need to part with their denomination. They do not need to be anti-denominational, they simply need to affirm that denominations are not the Church. They are an expression of the Church. The Triune God is the real thing, and deserves first place.
