Our One Priority Briefing for Ministers from George Bullard

Our One Priority: Starting and Strengthening Churches to Serve as Vital and Vibrant Missional Communities.

January is Just Around the Corner

Because Thanksgiving was the last week of November this year, and we had one week less between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it seems like we are running out of time. Before we get ready, January will be here. With that in mind, I want to share with your two January events so you can connect with them.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Worship Service on January 20th

When and Where: Monday, January 20th at 6:30 p.m. at Temple Zion Baptist Church at 1174 Heyward Brockington Road in Columbia.

Speaker: Dr. Valerie Carter Smith, Executive Director/Treasurer, Woman’s Missionary Union for Virginia. In addition to her work with WMU, she is the initiator of the concept of Sisters Who Care which is an urban church approach to women’s ministry that has been effective in congregations of various races and cultures.

Dr. Carter is a dynamic speaker with a powerful and inspiring testimony of ministry. She was a pastor’s wife for 24 years until the untimely death of her husband. She has been a ministry center director, on the staff of a multi-cultural congregation, and now is the leader of WMU in Virginia.

Vision Day Lunch and Speaker on January 21st

When: Tuesday, January 21st at Noon to 1:30 p.m.  Where: To be announced the first week of January. Speaker: Dr. Valerie Carter Smith. Cost: FREE!

Subject: Sisters Who Care. This is an innovative approach to women’s ministry in churches. It focuses on an action then reflection approach to ministry. It is an approach which can revitalize women’s ministry and WMU efforts in churches. It is also an excellent way to restart or initiate for the first time (in a long time) a women’s ministry in your church with a missional focus. It can also enhance the women’s ministry in your church that may already be going well but is ready to move to the next level.

Who Should Come: Pastors, staff persons, women’s ministry or WMU leaders. Registration for Lunch and Speaker: https://forms.gle/MmZczy7EJeenLAhN8. Or send an e-mail to CMBA@ColumbiaMetro.org with the name, e-mail address, telephone number, and church of each person you need to register.
