Prayers For Pastors and Congregations–Fifth Sunday, September 2018
A Prayer for Pastors: O Lord, among the things I pray will always characterize my congregation is Christian compassion towards all people. May I be able to communicate effectively that when we minister to the hungry, thirsty, stranger, naked, sick and imprisoned people—basically anyone too often overlooked—that we are doing it to You, in Your name, and out of Your commandment to love. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
A Prayer for Congregations: O Lord, loving the unlovely is always a challenge. Loving those who are not like me—do not have the some cultural, educational, and economic values I do—too often eludes me. It also scares me. I do not know how to appropriately express love to people who are not like me. Help me to renew my commitment to cross-cultural ministry to the hungry, thirsty, stranger, naked, sick and imprisoned as an act of my love towards You. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
