Prayers For Pastors and Congregations–Fifth Sunday, June 2019
A Prayer for Pastors: O Lord, may we never take for granted the religious freedom we have in our country. May we never seek to limit the religious freedom of others as it may also restrict our religious freedom. While leading my congregation this weekend to celebrate our religious freedom, may I not confuse the issue, but clearly seek to proclaim that our true unfailing freedom is in Jesus Christ as our Savor and Lord. While praying for our leaders may our greatest prayer be that they have the Lord Jesus in their hearts. In the name of Jesus, Pray. Amen.
A Prayer for Congregations: O Lord, we celebrate this week our freedom as Americans. We are so proud of our country and the freedom we have to worship. We are grateful for our founding fathers like George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson—our first three presidents who strived to give us our freedom. In worship this weekend we will celebrate our freedom as citizens. Yet, help me to keep a proper perspective and celebrate even more boldly the freedom we enjoy in Jesus Christ. While we love our country, let our love for Jesus be exponentially greater and know no limit. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
