Prayers For Pastors and Congregations–First Sunday, November 2018
A Prayer for Pastors: O Lord, time is the most precious commodity of the 21st century. We all wish for more money and other things, but time—or the lack of it—seem to control our busy lives. The aspect of time we most wish we understood is called “God’s timing.” Help us to use our available time wisely to worship and adore You. May the extra hour this Sunday be a time I can spend better preparing myself to help my congregation hear about the Living Word, Jesus the Christ. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
A Prayer for Congregations: O Lord, life is a rush. You know what I go through daily. Even my thoughts about Your presence in my life are a rush. My prayers are so quick and rote I wonder if You even consider them prayerful communication that seeks to draw me closer to You. Perhaps I need to spend the extra hour I have this Sunday morning getting up by the old time and spending some new time with You. Help me to make this a commitment for the coming day and to follow through. Nudge me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
