Prayers for Pastors and Congregations–First Weekend of March 2019
A Prayer for Pastors: O Lord, I do not want to make excuses about my sermon, but I am struggling this week. I am not sure if it was the distraction of the family who experienced a tragedy, my daughter who needed her daddy, or the tough meeting with the finance committee, but I do not feel ready for Sunday morning. This is one of those Sundays I realize my dependence on You is of core importance. May Your Holy Spirit give me the inspiration, the focus, and the spiritual passion to let Your words shine through and touch the hearts of those gathered in worship this Sunday. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
A Prayer for Congregations: O Lord, may Sunday be a great day of worship for our congregation. May people come to church for worship in anticipation of what God might be seeking to do in and through their lives. May they sing with great joy, pray with humble hearts, listen with attentive ears, praise you with great gladness, and touch the lives of those around them rather than being mindless participants in an all too familiar worship service. Most of all may they be in tune with and open to what the Holy Spirit is seeking to say to them. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
