Prayers For Pastors and Congregations–Second Sunday, November 2018
A Prayer for Pastors: O Lord, priority in life is so important. As a Christian my priority is You. There can only be one priority. I can have no other gods before you. This does not diminish my commitment to my family, but only illustrates that I love my family with a God-like love. I love my church with a God-like love. I love the people to whom You are sending our church with a God-like love. I love my country and its leaders with a God-like love. May I effectively communicate the priority of the love of God on a day when we also honor those who have served our country and been willing to sacrifice their lives for the freedom of everyone. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
A Prayer for Congregations: O Lord, I voted this week for the candidates I thought would honor You and will help us have the best country possible. This Sunday we honor those who willingly served our country in military service. Without their sacrifice we might not have the freedom we enjoy as citizens. As we reflect on the election this past week, and honor the service of veterans, may we keep all this in context. May we consider that the truest, deepest, and only eternal freedom in life is that which we enjoy through Jesus the Christ. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
