Prayers For Pastors and Congregations–The Last Sunday of March 2019
A Prayer for Pastors: O Lord, in the same way an angel led Philip to the Ethiopian eunuch, lead me to those persons you desire for me to share with them Your written word and share the truth of Your unconditional love for them. Give me a renewed confidence that You have gone before me to prepare them for my coming. It may be one or more persons in the congregation where I proclaim Your Living Word, Jesus the Christ, or someone in the marketplace I encounter this week. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
A Prayer for Congregations: O Lord, I did something foolish the other day. I bought a lottery ticket. I thought if others are winning money, perhaps I can too. Housing costs, education costs, and even—I convinced myself—what I could give to my church and to global missions would be so much easier to handle and joyful to give if I had millions of dollars. Today I feel foolish. I wanted a short-term gain rather than long-term fulfillment. I felt like the foolish man who built his house on the sand rather than the wise man who built his house on the rock. Help me in my foolishness. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
