Prayers For Pastors and Congregations–Third Sunday, September 2018
A Prayer for Pastors: O Lord, it looks like we may not have our gathered worship service this Sunday. You and I had planned a big Sunday. At least I had. But storms have intervened and changed our course. Still yet, I know that You are passing by and Your presence is sure. You are not best felt and understood in the wind from Florence, in the earthquake near Augusta, and in the fires popping up in various places. You are best felt as a gentle and quiet whisper that we can hear when to seek the voice of God. Praise be to You, O Lord! In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
A Prayer for Congregations: O Lord, in the midst of troubling weather, You are our shelter from high winds, raging storm surges, fast rising water, and an overabundance of the rain we really did need—but maybe not this much. You provide cover in all sorts of stormy weather than life brings our way. During days when we may be homebound, or limited in what we can do, let us renew our desire to hear Your voice, see Your handiwork, and share Your unconditional love with everyone—as all are our neighbors. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
