Serve Fair Workers at the South Carolina State Fair October 8th – 21st
Each year the churches of the Columbia Metro and Lexington Baptist Associations partner to facilitate this ministry. This year will focus on meeting the needs of the fair workers. Here are some ways to be involved:
- Provide on Monday, October 8th individually wrapped baked goods. These sweets are served at the hospitality area and packed in the meal bags given to the workers.
- Volunteer at the hospitality table to serve drinks and snacks Monday and Tuesday, October 8th – 9th during three-hour shifts.
- Nurses can volunteer to work with the Baptist Nursing Fellowship Monday and Tuesday, October 8th – 9th. They will be present to check vitals and provide health information to the workers.
- Volunteer to serve as a chaplain. Chaplains are needed throughout the entire two-week period to share a kind word with the workers and meet needs as they arise.
The Baptist presence at the South Carolina State Fair offers a unique ministry opportunity. People from all over the world travel with the fair. They are separated from their family and friends for extended periods of time. The workers appreciate the kindness shown to them while they are here. Consider your role in this ministry.
