Tangible Ways to Appreciate Your Ministers

We are now halfway through October. How is it going in your church or ministry setting? In what ways have there been outward and inward expressions of appreciation for those who minister among you? Do you need some ideas? Here are a few you can use that were inspired by one of our Baptist publications:

1. Circle of Prayer: Ask the pastor and other ministers plus their families to come to the front of the worship center and invite members to surround them and pray for them.

2. Plan a Church-Wide Meal: Plan a lunch or dinner honoring your pastor and other staff ministers. As a program have testimonies from people whose lives have been positively impacted by one or more of the ministers.

3. Decorate Office Doors: Have various groups – including children – to draw “happy” pictures, bring flowers, use balloons, or otherwise do a celebration in the office space occupied by your pastor and other ministers.

4. Provide Gift Cards: Gift cards to bookstores, car washes, favorite restaurants, coffee shops, or movie theaters would be great. If the pastor or other ministers are going out for an evening to enjoy one of the gift cards, offer free childcare.

What are some of your ideas?
