Wednesday, June 5, 2019: “A Family Story”: A Young Adult Leaders Forum. In an earlier post the spiritual strategic journey process at Spring Valley Baptist Church that started with a gathering called God’s Empowering Vision for Spring Valley Baptist Church: A Foundation was introduced. A key goal for Spring Valley was to deepen their engagement for young adult families.
To continue this process a Young Adult Leaders Forum was held this week with 11 couples in dialogue with the church staff. One show of interest was that all 11 couples invited attended. They were all in their twenties and thirties. A second show of interest was that the forum was scheduled for 90 minutes and had to be cut off at two hours. Among the subjects addressed were vision, communication, guest impressions, community building, and mobilizing relationships with unchurched households.
These subjects will unfold over the next several weeks. But, the enthusiasm of these young adult leaders is palpable. It is the excitement and commitment that so many churches long to see.
A key is that Spring Valley is a larger membership church that has a generous number of young adult households. They have not waited until this age group is depleted. They are putting them in a lead role for setting God’s course for the future of the church.
