“A Family Story”: One of the goals of CMBA is to tell the stories of our congregations and their leaders regarding their missional engagement. Within this goal is the desire to inspire others to similar action as God is calling them into areas of missional engagement.

Earlier this year Ralphetta Davis, moderator of CMBA and a leader in the Concord Fellowship Baptist Church, made a trip to Puerto Rico with a group of people to work with the efforts at disaster relief. One of our storytellers – Julia Smithwick Bell – who is the daughter of Jim Smithwick, a former director of CMBA, wrote a story about Ralphetta’s trip. This story came to the attention of the people who coordinate disaster relief for the SC Baptist Convention. They asked if additional trips would be made to Puerto Rico as they have designated funds for Puerto Rico disaster relief which they would like to invest wisely.

Another trip to Puerto Rico is planned in July. The list of supplies needed is over $9,000. The SCBC disaster relief ministry has committed $5,000 to help buy these supplies and to help volunteers travel to Puerto Rico. Praise God!

“And then God answered: ‘Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run.’” (Habakkuk 2:2 The Message)
